Key Duties

  • Be able to develop, plan and deliver effective and high-quality learning experiences to all students, incorporating practical activities and theoretical knowledge.
  • Be an aspirational professional who is enthusiastic, influential and committed to working in pursuit of success for the academy and its learners.
  • To set high expectations for all pupils, to deepen their knowledge and understanding and to maximise their achievement.
  • To assess pupils’, work systematically and use the results to inform future planning, teaching and curricular development.
  • Supervise workshops, ensuring safety protocols are followed during practical lessons.
  • Maintain a safe organized classroom environment conducive to active learning and experimentation.
  • Mentor students to develop their technical skills, creativity, and problem -solving abilities.
  • Provide personalized support through tutoring and behaviour management strategies to maximise student learning outcomes.
  • Assist students with proofreading their projects and reports to ensure clarity, accuracy, and high standards of presentation.

The successful candidate will have:

Subject expertise

  • GCSE Product Design
  • GCSE Engineering, particularly AQA
  • KS3 Design & Technology
  • Potentially BTEC Construction
  • Understanding of progression from KS3 → KS4 → KS5

Teaching and learning

  • Practical/project-based learning combined with assessment and feedback.
  • Supporting students through adaptative teaching methods while challenging higher attainers

Behaviour management

  • Clear expectations with consistent routine, that fosters positive relationships
  • Managing behaviour safely in workshops and maintaining a calm learning environment

Pastoral and teamwork

  • Working effectively within a year team
  • Supporting students beyond the classroom
  • Communication with colleagues and parents/carers
  • Resilience and willingness to contribute to the wider school

Job specifics

  • Start date: 1stJanuary 2027
  • Salary: AST 1-12 dependent on experience
  • Job Role: Permanent, Full time
