About the Role

This Veterinary Surgeon role at Wythall Veterinary Centre offers a 40 hour week across 4 days, plus a 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota. The practice is also open to part time and flexible options, so you can discuss what works best for you.

It is a first opinion small animal role with no out of hours and minimal bank holiday commitments. The day to day caseload mainly includes one operating shift and 3 consulting shifts, with emergencies handled as needed.

Based in a pleasant semi rural area just off Junction 3 of the M42, the practice provides straightforward access to Birmingham, Solihull and surrounding countryside. The team describes the environment as friendly, collaborative and development focused, with CPD interests supported.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a mix of operating and consulting work within a first opinion small animal practice.
• Handle surgical and medical cases, including diagnostic investigations.
• Support patients and clients with clear, reassuring communication.
• Take the lead on cases where appropriate and contribute to shaping clinical standards.
• Work alongside colleagues in a collaborative practice setting, including the link work carried out for Cats Protection.

Requirements

• Experienced Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical autonomy.
• Confident managing a varied caseload.
• Able to lead on surgical and medical cases.
• Comfortable carrying out diagnostic investigations.
• Keen to keep developing clinical skills.
• Natural mentor and team player.
• Strong client care skills.

About the Practice

Wythall Veterinary Centre, previously known as YourVets Wythall, is a well established small animal first opinion practice. It is part of CVS.

The practice is equipped with digital x ray, dental x ray, ultrasound, in house lab machines and access to a CT scanner at Solihull Veterinary Hospital. It also has a long standing relationship with Cats Protection, with weekly examinations and patient assessments carried out at their centre.
