About the Role
This Veterinary Surgeon role with My Vet, part of inspiring vet care, offers a flexible approach to work, including the option of consulting only or a role that combines consulting and surgical time. The full-time week is 4 days, with one set day off each week and one in eight Saturday mornings.
Consultations are 15 minutes as standard, with longer appointments for more complex cases, blood samples and euthanasia. Protected admin time is built into the day, and out of hours provision is covered by Vets Now from the main hospital site in Clayton Le Dale, supporting continuous inpatient care without patient transfers.
Based across an 11-branch practice in Lancashire, the role sits within a large clinical team and a hospital setting with advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Work across a varied small animal caseload as part of the wider practice team
- Provide consulting and, where applicable, surgical work
- Run standard 15-minute consultations, with longer appointments for complex cases, blood samples and euthanasia
- Use protected admin time during the day to support client and case management
- Contribute to collaborative inpatient care alongside the out of hours provision at the main hospital site
- Share knowledge and experience with colleagues while supporting the clinical culture of the practice
Requirements
- A veterinary degree and registration, or eligibility to register, with the RCVS
- Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
- A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
- Professionalism, reliability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

About the Practice
My Vet is part of inspiring vet care and operates across 11 branches in Lancashire, covering the Fylde Coast to the Rawtenstall Valley. All branches are PSS inspected, and the main hospital in Clayton Le Dale holds Tier 3 Hospital status.
The team includes 17 vets, with certificate holders in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthesia, Dentistry and Oral Surgery, plus two further vets nearing completion of Dermatology certificates. The main hospital has CT scanning, digital radiography, dental radiography, advanced ultrasound, laparoscopy, endoscopy, bronchoscopy and a full in-house laboratory, with certificate study fully funded and encouraged.
