About the Role

Alver Vets in Gosport is a busy, high-caseload small animal practice with a strong mix of vets, nurses, PCAs and receptionists. The team includes 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 1 certificate holder in Feline Medicine, 1 vet working towards a Certificate in Imaging, 15 nurses and 8 experienced receptionists.

This is a teaching practice, so it will suit a vet who enjoys supporting others as well as working clinically. The caseload includes a high level of dentistry with an active waiting list, and the practice description highlights a collaborative environment where clinicians are encouraged to make decisions, improve practice and share best working methods.

Based in Gosport, the practice sits within a welcoming community on the coast, with links to Portsmouth, Fareham and the wider Hampshire area.

Key Responsibilities

• Join the Gosport team as a Veterinary Surgeon in a first opinion small animal practice.
• Work on medical and surgical cases and take the lead where needed.
• Support new graduates and contribute to the teaching culture within the practice.
• Help provide a positive, reassuring experience for pet owners and their animals.
• Work collaboratively with the wider clinical and support teams in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

• Confident clinical skills across medical and surgical work.
• Comfortable taking charge when needed, even without formal line management experience.
• Happy to support and guide new graduates.
• Team-focused and client-focused.
