About the Role
This part-time Veterinary Surgeon position is based at Medivet Canonbury in Islington, with hours set at 50 to 75% of full-time. The role offers up to £65,000 FTE depending on experience, and the working pattern has some flexibility.
The position is non-surgical, so no routine surgery will be involved in your Canonbury shifts. Your time will focus on consultations, medical case management and diagnostic work-ups, with scope to develop your own area of clinical interest.
Weekend work is part of the rota, with shifts at one of Medivet's hospital practices approximately 1 in 12 or 1 in 9 weekends depending on contracted hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-opinion veterinary care for patients at Medivet Canonbury.
- Focus on consultations, medical case management and diagnostic investigations.
- Work without a routine surgical rota during Canonbury shifts.
- Take part in weekend shifts at one of Medivet's hospital practices approximately 1 in 12 or 1 in 9 weekends, depending on contracted hours.
- Contribute to case discussion and collaboration within a close-knit clinical team.
Requirements
- An experienced Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years' experience in small animal practice.
- A particular interest in Small Animal Medicine, Feline Medicine, Dermatology or Ophthalmology.
- Applicants who hold, are working towards, or would like to pursue a relevant postgraduate certificate in their chosen area of interest are well suited to the role.

About the Practice
Medivet Canonbury is an established first-opinion practice in Islington with a loyal client base and a varied caseload. The team is made up of three vets, two qualified nurses, two student veterinary nurses and three receptionists.
Clinical interests within the vet team include Small Animal Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging and cardiology. The practice is equipped with in-house laboratory facilities, digital radiography and ultrasound, and it continues to invest in its equipment and clinical services.
