Main duties of the job
We are seeking to recruit an asthma clinical nurse specialist (CNS) who will be working within an integrated neighbourhood model supporting the delivery of a pilot to identify and manage children and young people (CYP) at high risk of asthma exacerbations.As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will act as a lead specialist within paediatric asthma across community and primary care settings, contributing to an integrated neighbourhood team (INT) approach. This includes working collaboratively with GP practices, paediatricians, pharmacists and wider partners to proactively identify, review and manage CYP through population health management and risk stratification approaches.You will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues. Also ensures the safety and wellbeing of services users and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person-centred care principles.You will benefit from excellent support from the existing CNS team and Asthma consultants & we will offer you a comprehensive range of experience and development opportunities.If you feel you have the skills, enthusiasm and ambition to lead this fantastic team, we would love to hear from you.

Professional / Statutory Registration
Essential
- RN1 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
Desirable
- To have or working towards a Masters degree
Qualifications / Education
Essential
- BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience.
- Your professional knowledge acquired at degree level will be supplemented by specialist training. Experience and short courses to Masters level equivalent.
- Post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or equivalent post qualification experience.
- Leadership course.
- Mentorship course.
Desirable
- Diploma in Asthma Care.
- Relevant community nursing qualification.
Previous experience
Essential
- Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist area delivering effective patient focused care.
- Proven evidence of management / leadership skills and autonomous practice.
- Previous experience of student supervision and clinical education at undergraduate level.
- Experience of delivering patient advocacy.
- Experience of audit, research and evidence-based care.
- Experience of delivering change management both personally and as a facilitator.
Skills / Knowledge / Ability
Essential
- Advanced clinical, managerial and leadership skills is specialty.
- Evidence of teaching skills in particular teaching patients in how to manage their conditions and raise awareness of their condition.
