We welcome applications from experienced Registered Children's Nurses who can demonstrate recent acute hospital experience within the UK healthcare system. Newly Qualified Nurses may apply once they have successfully completed their preceptorship programme and gained at least 15 months clinical experience.
Main duties of the job
As a Bank Registered Children's Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, family-centred care to children and young people. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care across a variety of clinical settings.
Responsibilities include:

Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for children and young people

Supporting patients and families throughout their healthcare journey

Administering medication and treatments in line with Trust policies

Maintaining accurate clinical records

Promoting safeguarding and patient safety at all times

Contributing to a positive patient and family experience

Ability to work within a team and as an independent practitioner

Ability to work in fast paced, high pressure areas

Good organisational skills and ability to manage own workload

Registered Children's Nurse with current NMC registration

Have at least 12 months post-registration experience (15 months for Newly Qualified Nurses including preceptorship)

Have recent acute hospital experience within the last 18 to 24 months

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Commitment to delivering outstanding patient care

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential
- RGN.1st Level or relevant children's qualification
- Current NMC Registration
Desirable
- Teaching and assessing qualification (998 or equivalent)
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Candidate will have undertaken training required by the ward/department. E.g. IV drug administration, venepuncture, ECG.
- Minimum of 12 months post qualification experience (15 months for NQN's - 3 months preceptorship, then 12 months acute experience)
- Recent acute hospital experience with children and young people within the last 18-24 months
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers and MDT
- Computer skills
- Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids
- Clinical decision making ability
