Job summary

This is a great opportunity to build skills in specialist nursing while supporting people affected by tuberculosis to improve their health and wellbeing. You'll join a dedicated Tuberculosis (TB) Nursing Team that provides high-quality, person-centred care. The service supports people with active TB and latent TB infection, helping to reduce the impact of TB on individuals, families and communities. You'll work alongside experienced Specialist TB Nurses and a range of health and care professionals, gaining valuable experience in clinical care, public health and health promotion.

Main duties of the job

What you'll do:
  • Support patients with active TB and latent TB infection throughout their care journey
  • Help deliver screening, contact tracing and infection prevention activities
  • Encourage treatment adherence and provide practical and emotional support
  • Work closely with patients, families, interpreters and partner organisations
  • Contribute to a responsive, inclusive service that improves health outcomes

  • A Registered Nurse with a compassionate and person-centred approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Someone who works well within a multidisciplinary team
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • An interest in developing specialist knowledge, with support and training provided

Qualifications

Essential

  • RGN/RN/Diploma Nursing Studies
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development/Portfolio
Knowledge

Essential

  • Current legislation and impact on nursing services.
  • Evidence based practice
  • Understanding of audit processes, Key Performance Indicators and Targets, CQUIN collection data and Quality Monitoring Programmes
  • Integrated Team working

Desirable

  • Mentorship or evidence of supervision/teaching/team management
  • To demonstrate an understanding of proactive caseload management.
  • Understanding of research methodology and audit
  • To have an understanding of the principles of restorative practice
Experience

Essential

  • Experience within Primary/Secondary Care at Band 5 or equivalent
  • Developing and leading practitioners to deliver client responsive services delivering high quality nursing skills and care
  • Experience of initiating and implementing clinical or professional change and evaluation of practice
  • Experience in using IT in clinical practice

Desirable

  • Experience in planning and providing care to patient with Infectious diseases
  • Experience of proactive caseload management and the ability to act as a care coordinator.
  • Experience of collaborative working across organisation both statutory and voluntary services
