At The Telford Langley School, we have an exceptional opportunity to join our Senior Leadership Team and shape two priorities that are fundamental to every pupil’s success: attendance and safeguarding.

We are seeking an accomplished, values-led and highly visible Deputy Headteacher to provide strategic leadership for attendance and safeguarding. The successful candidate will be the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead and will lead a clear, ambitious attendance strategy that removes barriers, strengthens family engagement and secures sustained improvement for all pupils, particularly those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged.

This is a high-impact role for a leader with excellent professional judgement, a strong track record of whole-school improvement and the credibility to inspire staff, pupils, families and external partners.

You will combine strategic thinking with strong operational grip. You will develop confident safeguarding practice across the workforce, ensure precise and timely case management, use attendance and safeguarding data intelligently, strengthen multi-agency working and build a culture in which pupils are safe, known, present and ready to learn.

The successful candidate will be:

  • An experienced secondary senior leader with a proven record of whole-school improvement,
  • Able and suitably experienced to undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead,
  • Able to demonstrate measurable impact in attendance, safeguarding, pastoral leadership or related whole-school improvement,
  • A strategic thinker with the operational grip to secure precise case management and consistent practice across the school,
  • Skilled in using attendance and safeguarding data to evaluate impact, identify barriers and target support,
  • Able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families, governors and external agencies,
  • Calm under pressure and committed to safeguarding, inclusive education and excellent outcomes for every pupil.

In return, we offer:

  • High-quality Trust-wide professional learning and leadership development,
  • Collaborative networks across a successful family of primary and secondary schools,
  • A supportive, ambitious professional community committed to inclusive education,
  • The opportunity to shape attendance, safeguarding and pastoral practice within the school and beyond.
  • If you are ambitious for young people, calm under pressure and ready to lead with clarity, compassion and high expectations, we would be delighted to hear from you.
  • For further information and an application form please visit our website The Telford Langley School - Vacancies. Applicants should apply on the MyNewTerm website.

Your supporting statement should explain how your skills, knowledge and experience meet the job description. Please also submit a short summary of a strategic priority you would lead during your first 100 days, including key actions and intended impact. This may be presented as a narrated PowerPoint, a video of no more than three minutes, a written submission of no more than two sides of A4, or another suitable format.

Tours of the school can be provided on request as follows:

  • Monday 12th October - 10am and 4 pm
  • Tuesday 13th October - 11:15am
  • Thursday 15th October - 11:15 am
