Job summary

We are currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated registered B6 Nurse to join a busy and well-respected Integrated Learning Disability Service, which covers the Lancashire locality. We are very pleased to be able to offer this role within the Lancaster and Morecambe locality (North Lancashire).

This is an exciting opportunity to gain wide-ranging experience of community services for people with learning disability. The Learning Disability Service strives to provide forward-thinking high-quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with people with learning disabilities, their families and carers we have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives. We are committed to helping our staff develop and you will be part of an enthusiastic and experienced team.

We are looking for a registered Nurse with an up-to-date knowledge of health policy for people with learning disabilities. Adaptability, good communication skills and self -motivation are essential. The successful applicant will be an experienced clinician with proven skills in working with people who have complex needs and challenging behaviour. You will also be able to demonstrate that your practice is evidence based and innovative.

The Community Learning Disability Team in The Bay is a friendly supportive multi-disciplinary team based across 3 sites; Lancaster, Kendal and Barrow.

Main duties of the job

We pride ourselves in our holistic approach to supporting the health needs of adults with learning disabilities and our drive for continuous service development across all professions. We meet monthly as a whole team alternating virtual and face to face meetings.

Willingness to travel is essential and applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

The Learning Disability Service strives to provide forward thinking high quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with people with learning disabilities and their families we have a strong commitment to public health, promotion of safeguarding and effective risk management through service development and training initiatives working within an enthusiastic and experienced team.

A Registered Nurse, with up to date knowledge, of health policy and legislation applicable to people with a learning disability and/or Autism. Adaptability, good communication skills and self-motivation are essential.

An experienced clinician with proven skills in working with people who have complex health needs and challenging behaviour and/or Autism, demonstrating practice is evidence based and innovative.

The post holder will be responsible for a defined caseload and supervision of other practitioners (registered and unregistered), to provide strong clinical leadership and supervision within the learning disability team.

Essential

  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse with current NMC Registration
  • 2-3 year' post registration Experience
