Job summary

We are expanding our Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist teams here at Imperial, and this is an exciting opportunity to take on band 7 Nurse Practitioner role in the gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) screening service.

We are seeking experienced nurses, preferably with a cancer background, who ideally have nurse practitioner experience. You should have telephone-based assessment skills and be able to demonstrate advanced communication and clinical skills. You should be enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated to join this busy service.

You will have the opportunity to gain experience working within a MDT and developing your leadership skills. You will work autonomously and as part of a team, to deliver excellent clinical care, and improve patient experience within the speciality.

This is a great opportunity to develop your experience in a specialist role, enhancing your leadership and clinical skills in a specialist cancer unit.

This role is office based, with most of the clinical care and caseload being managed digitally or by telephone. Our services work across 3 hospital sites, some roles may require cross site travel.

Main duties of the job

Nurse Practitioner (NP)

A NP is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post registration education. During a specific episode, and within their defined area of practice, they assess, manage, deliver and advise on care, offering appropriate support as required.

Clinically a nurse practitioner differs from an advanced nurse practitioner (ANP), as the ANP is expected to work at an advanced level with a wider scope of practice and manage greater clinical complexity with a higher level of decision making.

A NP performs comprehensive clinical examinations of patients in their entirety, inclusive of physical examination of all systems, mental health assessment and remote assessment where appropriate and qualified, within their defined area of clinical practice.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, a NP has the autonomy to act and accept responsibility and accountability for their own actions, acting as an advisor for patients, or a resource for others within their defined area of clinical practice.
