Job summary

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the friendly and dedicated team at Aylsham Medical Day Unit (AMDU).

AMDU is a nurse-led service providing planned care for patients referred from all specialties across the Acute Trust. Since its establishment in 2018, the service has continued to grow and developcaring for more than 11,000 patients in the last year alone.We provide a diverse range of services, including:o Blood product transfusionso Intravenous iron therapyo Outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT)o Venesectiono Day-case biopsieso Paracentesiso Day-case heart failure assessment and management

Through our service, we help to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions, support early discharge and promote patient independence.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our busy and diverse team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their clinical skills, broaden their experience and take the next step in their professional development.

Main duties of the job

o Provide safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to patients attending the Medical Day Unit across a range of clinical pathways.o Promote patient independence, admission avoidance and early discharge, supporting patients to receive appropriate care closer to home.o Administer and monitor medications and treatments, including intravenous therapies, in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards.o Safely administer and monitor blood and blood products, recognising and managing any adverse reactions appropriately.o Monitor patients before, during and after procedures and treatments, ensuring timely recognition of clinical deterioration.o Maintain accurate and contemporaneous nursing documentation and clinical records.o Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team, providing information, reassurance and appropriate health education.o Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition, escalating concerns promptly to senior nurses and medical colleagues.o Ensure infection prevention and control standards are consistently maintained.o Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement and service development.o Maintain professional knowledge and competence through continuing professional development, training and reflective practice.o Work flexibly as part of a 7-day service, including shifts between 07:00 and 19:30.
