Job summary

Hartlepool Borough Council are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated healt visitor, applicants must hold or be working towards a specialist community public health nurse (SCPHN) qualification in Health Visting.

As a SCPHN health visitor you will lead and develop a family centered public health approach, working with individuals, families and communities to improve health and tackle inequalities.

We are currently offering a Retention Payment of £2000 to Band 12 Health Visitors to be paid in April 2027.

Main duties of the job

Help us to realise the dream of transforming services, to enable the leadership and delivery of a robust healthy child programme and public health agenda.

You will be committed to deliver evidence based practice, maintaining current knowledge of local and national issues that impact on the 0-5 population. As a specialist practitioner you will be required to professionally contribute to the on-going development of the health visiting offer within the Early Help Locality Teams.

You would be supported to fulfill your role through induction, training, shadowing and a preceptorship package tailored to your individual needs. Applications welcome from student SCPHN's due to qualify. We offer a robust preceptorship/mentorship package for newly qualified health visitors.

Job responsibilities

To work as part of an integrated locality 0-19 Early Help team providing an effective high quality service to the local 0 - 5 population and their families.

To effectively manage an allocated caseload with support from the integrated locality team, which will promote the health and wellbeing of the 0 - 5 population, so they may be enabled to reach their full potential and not be disadvantaged through ill health or disability.

To use evidence-based practice to plan, deliver and evaluate public health interventions in a variety of settings.

Essential

  • Proven experience to organise and manage workload
  • Able to demonstrate developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility able to cope with different work environments
  • General computer skills, including use of word, excel and powerpoint

Qualifications

Essential

  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visiting or currently studying to become a SCPHN HV
  • Registered Nurse or Midwife

Desirable

  • Nurse prescribing
