About the Role
This Veterinary Surgeon role is based on site in Woking, Surrey, within a first opinion setting that is focused on out of-hours work. The rota is part-time considered, with a Sunday shift every week from 8am to 7pm, a one hour lunch break, plus three night shifts per month from 7pm to 8am.
The practice is currently going through renovation and refurbishment, with access to specialist equipment and facilities including a CT scanner, endoscope and ultrasound. You will be joining a small animal specialist site where the work includes primary care OOH consultations, member practice case transfers, inpatient care, medical work ups and surgery.
Key Responsibilities
- Run primary care out-of-hours consultations.
- Receive and manage case transfers from member practices.
- Provide inpatient care during the OOH rota.
- Carry out medical work ups and surgical cases.
- Take the lead on surgical and medical cases where needed.
- Carry out diagnostic investigations with accuracy.
- Support a team that includes vets, nurses, PCAs and receptionists.
Requirements
- Experienced Veterinary Surgeon, ideally with 2 to 3 years' experience.
- Strong medical knowledge.
- Experience in routine and emergency surgery.
- Good communication skills.
- A passion for excellent patient care and client service.
- A collaborative approach, with confidence supporting and mentoring colleagues.
